3 STEPS to STUDY in FRANCE in 2011-2012

1/ CHOOSE YOUR PROGRAM

Get prepared soon: One year before your intended departure for France, start gathering information on the necessary steps to enrol.

Finalize your educational plan: Meet our counsellor. Make sure the studies you are planning for in France are linked with your background and learn French.

Choose your course: Visit the website www.campusfrance.org to get information on programs taught in English, make your choice among 36000 courses, select an institution, find a scholarship program and inquire about life in France.

2/ ENROL IN A FRENCH INSTITUTION for 2011-2012

If you have the WAEC or the NECO… …and wish to enrol in a French university for the first year of study you must file a preliminary application for admission with the cultural services of the French Embassy in Abuja between 1st December 2010 and 15th January 2011! Watch out! A B2 level in French or the French exam of TCF-DAP is required.

If you have a B.A. or a B.Sc… …and wish to enrol in a French university for a Master degree or If you have a Master degree… …and wish to enrol in a French university for a Doctorate the enrolment must be done directly with the French faculty you are applying for. You can apply on your own, but if you wish, our counsellor can guide you.

If you want to join a private institution: Private universities have their own calendar and admission procedures. Our counsellor will guide you.

3/ APPLY FOR THE STUDENT VISA

The student visa requirements

 Passport

 2 recent passport-size photographs

 2 long stay/short stay visa application form

 Diplomas and transcripts

 Letter of admission from the university

 Certificate of accommodation

 Bank statement of the sponsor (last 3 months)

 Attestation of sponsorship

 Insurance

 Visa fees (99 € for a long-stay visa)

The preliminary interview: Once your file is complete, contact our counsellor for a preliminary assessment.

Finally make an appointment with the Visa Section in Lagos or in Abuja, from Monday to Friday, between 9am and 12am.

Learn French: For some courses a particular level of French may be required. To find the closest French class look for the French Department in your institution or visit www.alliancefrancaise-ng.org & www.institufr-nigeria.org

Practical aspects: Budget your stay & arrange for finances. Apply for a scholarship program & for accommodation.

Short & Sweet: Summer / Winter programs, coursework semesters, intensive French classes: specific short courses are also available.
